Oahu Luaus - Hawaii Polynesian Cultural Center
You and your family will have a fantastic time watching locals from various villages show off their skills and crafts including creating clothing from tree bark, baskets with leaves, fire by rubbing sticks together, and stories through dance. You’ll have the chance to hear amazing and fantastic descriptions of travels across the oceans, preservation of history and traditions, and various cooking methods during some of the feature presentations.
Highlights of the Polynesian Cultural Center experience include:
A Feast Fit for a King (or Queen)
Years ago, the Oahu luau was a plentiful feast to honor foreign dignitaries or royalty, and at the Alii Luau, it still is. Starting at 5:00 pm Monday through Saturday, visitors are treated to the best Hawaiian cuisine that can be found—from the salad bar to Kalua Pork prepared in an underground imu oven to chicken long rice to local sweet potatoes, fresh fish from Hawaii, taro rolls, traditional desserts, poi, and more—it’s an experience that you will never forget!
Impressive and Astonishing Night Show with a Cast of Over 100!
The biggest Polynesian revue of dance and song in the entire world, "Horizons Night Show," features over 100 indigenous performers from all over the Pacific. These performers are clothed in native dress, and the Polynesians tell about their traditions, spirit and history in the same way that their ancestors did many years ago. This remarkable night show is one that you and your tour group will not want to miss.
Island Demonstrations at the Polynesian Cultural Center
Participate in live demonstrations for Samoa, Figi, Hawaii, Tonga, New Zealand, Tahiti, and Marquesas. Seven diverse islands are embodied at the Polynesian Cultural Center’s Luau in Hawaii!
Village Canoe Tours at the Polynesian Cultural Center
The Canoe tours are extremely popular at the Polynesian Cultural Center. You’re sure to enjoy a soothing and peaceful canoe ride between your other planned adventures. As you pass the seven Polynesian villages on your cruise, you’ll be able to observe the palm trees that line each shore of the Center's majestic lagoon.
Canoe Pageant
Myth and tradition of over five thousand years are performed in a moving canoe pageant held on the calm lagoon that cuts through the Center's forty-two sultry acres. Fifty native Polynesians in time-honored attire delight you with their explanations of Pacific history in unforgettable style. The Canoe Pageant starts at 2:30 PM.
IMAX Films offered at the Polynesian Cultural Center
"The Living Sea"
This forty-minute film features music by Sting and narration by Meryl Streep and is presented on the Polynesian Cultural Center’s seven-story tall IMAX screen. The Academy Award-nominated motion picture brings spectators on a voyage about water cycles, tides, currents, and how the ocean waters are connected. You’ll feel the authority of the ocean as you watch the cast track humpback whales in the ocean, take a guided tour of Palau and its huge clam farms and mysterious Jellyfish Lake, ride in a Coast Guard boat, and surf thundering waves in Hawaii. All of this and more is included in the Polynesian Cultural Tour experience.
