Equipment

The DUKW (D-model year 1942, U-amphibian, K-all wheel drive, W-dual rear axles) is boat-like vessel with an airtight, hollow body. Designed to carry 25 soldiers, their equipment, an artillery piece, or 5,000 lbs of ammunition and general cargo. On land, the Duck can go up to 50 MPH and that’s plenty fast enough for Oahu Tours leisurely purposes. The US produced 20,000 DUKWs during WW II, and they first saw combat during the Sicily invasion in 1943. Later, they were vital in the invasion of Normandy.
